Before & After: A Once-Dark Kitchen Is Brightened and Has a Bold Backsplash
This professional project by Sundling Studio is located in Thousand Oaks, California, and is an example of how splurging on one show-stopping decor element can really make an entire room shine. Occupied by a family of three, this house’s kitchen before featured black cabinets, a plain stone-colored backsplash, and a more closed-in layout. Katie Griffith of Sundling Studio shares more information about this project:
“This kitchen went from dark and outdated to bright and modern with the help of a new layout, a large island, and beautiful hand-painted tile that brings in a little Spanish flair. The existing bay window was replaced with French doors to bring in more light and create easy access to their outdoor entertaining area. A large island took the place of their small octagonal island, which made the space feel bigger and provided ample seating for this sweet family of three.”
