Baking has always been cool. But if you’re the type who loves to drive home the cool factor with some badass accessories, then you’ll love KitchenAid’s black-and-white stand mixer that comes with a studded — studded — black bowl.

The Light & Shadow stand mixer first became available in July when KitchenAid partnered with interior designer Hilton Carter. “As a designer, the pieces I bring into my home must be functional but also inspire me,” Carter wrote about the collaboration. “The tonal desert color, the impeccable black ceramic studded details of the bowl, and a pyramidal play of light and shadow strike the perfect balance. I look forward to all of the meals my family and I will create for years to come.”

The Light & Shadow mixer is basically the Corvette of stand mixers. It comes with 10 speeds, a tilt head, and the five-quart studded bowl has enough room to whip up nine dozen batches of cookies. And because it’s basically a functional art piece, it comes with a hefty price tag — just under $550.

But bakers and chefs say it’s worth the price.“This mixer is quiet and strong with the torque to do bread dough,” one Crate & Barrel reviewer wrote. “KitchenAid is known for reliable products, and is made in the USA. Stylish and functionable what is not to love.” Another wrote, “Simply amazing. Beautiful design compared with a stylish and timeless look. Definitely recommend to anyone who is on the fence about the price tag.”
