Name: Kristin Sears
Location: Bushwick Neighborhood, Brooklyn, NYC

Bushwick was recently on Vogue‘s list of the coolest neighborhoods in the world, and I’m lucky enough to call it my new home. I am from Kentucky and recently graduated from school in Savannah, Georgia… needless to say it was going to be a big adjustment moving to New York City.

That’s the main reason why I chose Bushwick and my apartment in particular: It feels like home… all 300 square feet of it. The street has local charm as well as the cool factor I was hoping for. I have trees and birds outside my window (not to mention my neighbor’s pet chicken). I have space to stretch out and relax, and rent doesn’t quite cost an arm and a leg.

My apartment reflects my eclectic taste, which I like to call eclectic modernism, filled with hand-me-downs, thrift store finds, and IKEA essentials (of course). I have a few favorites, like the tennis racket piece my mom and I made together, the entire wall above my bed, and the golden eagle “freedom” lamp. I basically wanted Brooklyn to feel as close to home as possible and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Thanks, Kristin Sears!
