Juliana is an art director and a self-proclaimed home decor and DIY aficionado, “always trying to make projects in the most environmentally sustainable way possible,” she explains. She’s been renting this 950-square-foot loft on the West Side of Los Angeles for two and a half years, and shares her home with the adorable Lani (black pup), Lilo (beige pup), and Lume (big cat).

The architecture of her rental home is, in short, stunning. “The windows and glass bricks in the apartment are just incredible. I can’t say I have a constant favorite thing about the apartment, but they are definitely noteworthy,” Juliana writes. She’s complemented the home’s natural design charm by incorporating a lot of cool and curvy furniture pieces, thrifting items with personality, and reusing materials in interesting ways.

“I like decorating my place to emote specific feelings!” she writes. “My office is a creative space, so I went with bright vivid orange and pink tones, a lot of DIY and organic shapes, and greenery to top it all off, while my living room displays colors that make me feel a little more Zen.”

“I’m lucky to have a lot of natural light coming through the windows and high high ceilings, so I wanted to make sure the decor was enhancing that bright and airy vibe. My bedroom is definitely the most rustic looking one,” Juliana admits.

“With a lot of wooden textures, I wanted to make sure it felt cozy and lived-in, so I can really let it all go when I get in there. There’s definitely a theme of organic shapes and textures mixed in with color combos around the house, but each room feels like it has a specific mind space purpose,” she explains.

Even more impressive, everything Juliana has done to her apartment has been “really renter-friendly, as the management company is not necessarily the friendliest,” she explains. “Everything I put up needs to come off as it’s never existed and I try to keep the original blinds, light fixtures, etc. from the apartment to make sure I replace them once I’m ready to move out.”
