The Internet Has Fallen In Love With Lady Gaga’s Color-Blocked Floor
On April 18, musical artists came together virtually for a televised concert, One World: Together at Home, which paid tribute to those essential workers and medical staff who remain on the frontline of the fight against the coronavirus. The event was organized by Global Citizen on behalf of the World Health Organization and United Nations, and hosted by Lady Gaga, who broadcasted from the comfort of her home studio.
Though her rendition of “Smile” was chill-inducing, fans watching couldn’t help but notice the incredible floor pattern beneath Gaga’s feet (which you can see better starting at :52 in the video below).
The floor is covered with bold geometric shapes in gray, pink, lime, light blue, and orange. It’s a happy array of triangles and rectangles that look like they may be tiles—though, it’s hard to tell.
As Twitter will tell you, Gaga’s floor was the perfect backdrop for her performance. As soon as they saw it, the internet fell head over heels for the “coolest floor” in the world.
The general consensus is that everyone wants to cop Gaga’s patterned floor, and although the rug is necessary to enhance the sound quality, it’s gotta go. We need to see the masterpiece that lies beneath.
The easiest way to recreate Gaga’s look for less is to paint your current floor—be it concrete or hardwood. Tape off sections to create a similar geometric pattern and get to painting. You can seal your work with the appropriate sealant such as concrete sealer or polyurethane for wood. Here’s a step by step guide.
Until Gaga gives us a full house tour and doesn’t leave out the nitty gritty details, we’ll simply have to wonder what kind of magic is taking place beneath her feet.
