This Compact Space Heater Keeps Me So Warm That I Don’t Need to Bump Up the Heat at Home
When I think back on my days working in an office, what comes to mind is how cold it was all the time. It reached a point where I would come in wearing a jacket — and never take it off! I told myself that if I ever worked from home, I’d keep my space at a comfortable temperature, which is a great promise to make to yourself until you remember you’re the one paying the heating bill. (Suddenly my freezing-cold office environment made more sense… ) That’s when I found a smart solution to warm myself up without running up my bills in the process: the Lasko MyHeat mini space heater.
The MyHeat is a low-wattage space heater that’s just six inches tall and has a built-in ceramic heating element to keep you warm. It’s meant to affect the space immediately around it, making it ideal for under-the-desk heat for legs and feet or near your hands on your desktop. I initially had reservations about the Lasko MyHeat because it seemed too good to be true. I’m new to personal space heaters, so I approached it with the preconceived notion that it wouldn’t be very effective, but I still wanted to give it a chance. But all of my doubts about this tiny space heater went away when I powered it on. It can get pretty cold in my apartment, but the MyHeat knocked the chill out right away. In fact, I had to turn it off intermittently because I was more than warm enough to work comfortably.
There are no tricky bells and whistles to the Lasko MyHeat; it’s ready to plug in right out of the box, no assembly required. The device is equipped with a six-foot power cord and has one simple switch to turn it on and off. The outside of the heater stays cool while it’s running, and because of its meager size, it’s highly portable. Not to mention, you can use it all year long. (If your office pumps the AC in the summer, take note!) I haven’t put it away since I unpacked it, and I’m not planning to anytime soon!
