Name: Laura
Location: London, Ontario – Canada
Our apartment is in an old bankers mansion that was built in the late 1800’s. The house is split into 7 units. The main living space of our unit used to be the formal dining room of the home and has very unique and beautiful hardwood floors that were installed at the beginning of the twentieth century (which are still in amazing shape for their age).
Although it is a smaller space (~900 square feet) it is extremely functional and feels much larger due to the 11′ ceilings. We love the period architectural details, such as the custom wood shutters and transom windows between the living and dining rooms, and the fact that we sleep in a turret.
I love a mix of furniture styles (e.g. the mid century modern chairs and the french provincial stereo cabinet that my father-in-law had built in the 1960’s) and thought the eclectic mix worked well in the space. Although we are moving on now, we will remember this apartment fondly… it is, by far, the most beautiful space that my husband and I have ever lived in.
Thanks, Laura!
