Leanne Ford’s New Crate & Barrel Collab Features a Cozy Sofa Inspired by a Puffer Jacket

Designer Leanne Ford just dropped her latest collaboration with Crate & Barrel, the “Origins Collection,” which features 129 exclusive new pieces that touch categories across the home, from furniture and decor to artwork and kids’ items.

Inspired by fashion and music, the range feels like a mashup between Ford’s greatest hits remixed in new colorways — and if you’ll allow me to keep this metaphor going — all new bangers. The best-selling Pebble Indoor/Outdoor Concrete Coffee Table now comes in both white and charcoal, while the Willy Pedestal Coffee Table will now be available in resin travertine. There are several new styles of couches and chairs, many of which feature on-trend, gentle curves and slouchy, low-slung silhouettes. The Mellow Grande Sofa (pictured above) was actually inspired by quilted puffer jackets Ford saw on the runway and has a cozy, sink-in marshmallow-like look. 

Ford also put her own spin on traditional farmhouse dining furniture by casting tables and chairs in bleached-out wood. This design move feels spot-on for her signature fifty shades of white (and beige!) palette, but, of course, pops of black are present, too, for a little bit of that rock and roll edge. The smalls, including both ceramics and glassware, stand out, even among the larger furnishings, thanks to their organic lines and handhewn textures. If I had to pick just one piece to impulse buy for the sheer fun of it, it’d come down to the Marbled Checkered Tray or the Range glasses (pictured above), which coordinate back to the popular Range Dishware with their black rims. 

As part of the drop, Ford is also expanding her Crate & Kids offerings. Not only has she taken her popular Levon Natural Carved Wood Wide Floor Mirror and used it as inspiration for the Lennox Carved Natural Wood Kids Armoire (pictured below), but she’s also launched an assortment of textiles, toys, and a playmat for the littles in your life who want something sweet — but not too saccharine. 

Pricing for the capsule starts at $8.95, and items can be found in-store and online only at Crate & Barrel and Crate & Kids. Ford describes the whole collection as getting back to her roots — “light, bright, and airy” — and that feels like the perfect palate cleanser for your home this spring.
