One thing I love almost as much as randomly finding a good deal on a statement furniture piece is discovering the best way to make said gem fit in with my existing decor. I like to find a way to make even the most classic pieces feel extra special, and well, extra “me.” I recently learned a new trick for instantly elevating some of my furniture pieces that’s so good, I can’t stop trying it all over my home.

Many years spent scrolling through Instagram Reels had already made me a believer in the power of adding wireless lighting beneath cabinets to create instant ambiance, but did you know they can upgrade your accent furniture too? After using these handy rechargeable motion sensor lights I spotted on Amazon to add accent lighting to our drab kitchen, I was inspired to try them out on our bar cart and tower. It took just minutes to install them, and the result felt so custom and added so much more character to each piece.

You can score a two-pack of these lights for under $30, and they charge fast. The lights are nice and bright, just as if they were hard-wired, and are easy to install using the built-in magnet (for sticking to any ironwork) or the adhesive strips included.

I used two sets throughout our bar tower, which puts the perfect spotlight on our beautiful drinkware. I was so obsessed with the results (see below!) that I moved on to add one more light to our vintage-inspired bar cart.

Adding these lights in strategic places on our favorite pieces elevated our entire dining room in minutes. When guests come over, they always assume that each piece came with the lighting, because the effect is so spot-on. I smirk, then proudly tell them it’s just my little two-minute accent trick. If you’re looking for a simple way to bring new energy to your favorite accent furniture, you just have to try this trick. I’m eyeing adding some beneath our sideboard next. Somebody may have to stop me!
