This $15 Lint Tool Will Clean Up All the Hair Your Vacuum Leaves Behind
I’m a sucker for new cleaning tools and methods, and I love to try out hacks from Instagram and TikTok. I’ve even been known to influence myself when I write stories for Apartment Therapy about Amazon shoppers’ favorites. Consuming (and creating) housecleaning content is how I came to know and love Dawn Powerwash, my favorite microfiber mop and spin mop, and Scrub Daddies.
Most recently, I succumbed to the innundation of Instagram ads for the Lint Cleaner Pro. Seeing videos of the tool in action, pulling pet hair up from carpets, enticed me for sure. But it wasn’t until I saw my friend Sharon, who caved and bought it before I did, post her own real-life video of the pet fur she collected with the tool that I plunked down the money for my own.
Pet fur seems to get Velcro’ed to my low-pile rugs, and regular vacuuming never seems to be enough to keep it in check. Even after a session with a carpet beater bar, there’s still a subtle film of fur — something that I hope only I can notice, but worry that it makes the whole thing look grungy. So I figured I’d try the lint roller, for me and for all of you.
When it came, you know I couldn’t wait to test it out immediately. I liked that it came in a fabric drawstring bag, although I know I’ll never bother putting it away. When I pulled it out, I was disappointed to find some kind of residue on the metal. It wasn’t anything that would affect the performance of the tool, but it did make me feel a bit foolish for choosing the more expensive Lint Cleaner Pro when an identical-seeming lint remover is available on Amazon for a third of the price.
I got right to work, picking a small area of rug to concentrate my efforts. All you do is scrape the action-end of the tool across sections of your carpet like a rake. Easy enough, but does it work?
Reader, I was not disappointed. With a few strokes, the Lint Cleaner Pro pulled massive wads of fur from the carpet.
I have yet to go over the entire carpet with the tool, but I have big plans to spend some quality time with an audiobook, my Lint Cleaner Pro, and my carpet that’s about to be cleaner than it’s been since the day we unrolled it.
