Your middle school dreams have come true—the intensely rainbow universe of Lisa Frank will be coming to a theater near you.

The feature film, which will be a live action/animation hybrid, is currently in development. If it’s anything like classic hybrids Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract video, count us in.

Producer Jon Shestack, whose credits include Air Force One and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, told Variety: “Lisa Frank’s world is cheerful, it’s optimistic, it’s hip, but it is without snark. It’s just sort of impossible to scowl when you’re smiling, and why would you want to? I’m so stoked to be part of this.”

While the characters have mostly served as decoration for school supplies, apparel, and coloring books, Frank says there’s always been more to them. “We have so much backstory on our characters and they have been alive in my imagination since the beginning.”

Color us interested.
