I’m extremely picky when it comes to rugs. Most prints just don’t look quite right to me, and most brand-new rugs just don’t seem like they would gel with my apartment’s vintage aesthetic. The rare ones that do seem like they would typically cost a fortune. When I first set out on decorating my new place, I was about to give up hope and go with a solid-colored option as usual, but then, I took a chance on Joanna Gaines’ Sinclair rug.

The HGTV star’s Magnolia brand joined forces with Loloi Rugs, creating a stunning rug and throw pillow collection from which the Sinclair rug hails. Somehow, it seemed to check all of my boxes: It doesn’t look too new, the pattern is intricate-yet-understated, and the price is impressively budget-friendly. I thought it was all too good to be true, but ever since I saw it in the flesh and placed it in my tiny studio apartment, I’ve discovered that it really is that good. In fact, it’s the anchor piece of my entire apartment, also making it look so much bigger. While it’s over 50% off for Black Friday, here’s why you should add it to your space, too.

What is the Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines x Loloi Sinclair Rug in Jade/Sand?

Loloi has become a leader in the rug space with its high-quality offerings, and this rug is no exception. It also incorporates Gaines’ design aesthetic, which feels casual and cozy and elevated at the same time. The surface depicts antique, floral motifs with a slightly distressed finish. It’s made power-loomed of polyester, and over half of it comes from recycled plastic bottles.

The feel is as soft as a classic power-loomed rug, but it’s also more environmentally friendly than most. Additionally, though the pile is low at a quarter of an inch, the material feels buttery smooth. Its height also makes it easy to maintain, as does the fact that the material is machine-washable.

Why I Love the Sinclair Rug

Working with such a tiny apartment, I knew that the rug I chose would either bring it all together or throw the entire space into disarray. Thankfully, the Sinclair rug had the former effect. I’m always a bit hesitant to order rugs online because the colors usually never appear exactly the same, or the design isn’t as faded as it seems. In this case, taking the leap paid off because it’s just as stunning in person as it looks in photos. The pattern doesn’t overwhelm my space like I feared, since it’s washed out in a tasteful, vintage-looking way.

It’s also held up through months of foot traffic and is still as pristine as the day it arrived in the mail. Granted, I have washed it since then. The rug is thin enough that folding it into the machine is surprisingly easy, and after it air-dried, there was no sign of any piling or wear. The softness held up after washing too. I mistakenly assumed that a non-plush rug wouldn’t be comfortable, but the feel of the fabric makes up for it. (Plus, vacuuming is a breeze.) If you’re after a rug that offers durability, comfort, and a vintage vibe, then the Sinclair rug should go straight into your cart while Wayfair’s Black Friday sale is still live!
