Name: Maeve
Location: East Village, New York

Our 733 square foot apartment is occupied by three recent college graduates (including myself!). Apartments in the city tend to get a very bad rap for being too small, so we really lucked out when we stumbled upon our two (read: converted from one) bedroom space.

I have my own room and my roommates share the other, and we have more than enough space. It’s right by all of the fun East Village bars, which is great for us since a lot of other people in the area are our age, and we’re a mere four blocks away from the L train.

When setting up our apartment, it was important to create an aesthetic that was modern, clean, and chic but didn’t feel like just another college dorm room.

We tried to put a little bit of each of us into the decor: you can see bits of Parisian inspiration from a roommate who spent a year in Paris; our dining room table holds a bowl brought from my other roommate’s trip to Africa; and my creativity, in the form of fun little DIY projects (like a tassel garland and a “Let Them Eat Cake” print) act as accents in our common spaces.
