Every time I think I’ve seen the most creative hack of an IKEA product, someone comes around with something new that completely blows my mind. Normally a table turns into another kind of table, or a dresser becomes a bar, but I never thought I’d see the day someone managed to turn a series of IKEA beds into a stylish iron fence.

Meike at IKEA Hackers said she had wanted to get a new iron fence, but iron fences can get really expensive. Then she had the genius idea to make her own using IKEA’s Noresund bed frames.

Meike says her husband cut the legs off the beds, and then they simply used clamps to hold the headboards to posts sunk into the ground with quick concrete. That doesn’t sound exactly like an easy DIY for those of us who don’t use saws or mix concrete that often, but it’s definitely less expensive than buying a new fence, and the end results look pretty fantastic.
