Name: Margaux
Location: Echo Park — Los Angeles, California

We have a beautiful sun filled apartment in Echo Park, LA. The house itself is an Arts and Crafts/Craftsman bungalow type, originally built as a triplex in a historic neighborhood full of beautiful old Victorians and Arts and Crafts homes.

I work as a production designer and art director, and used to have a boutique vintage shop, so I have treasures from the last 10 years of my life, as well as hand me down treasures from the adventures of my mother and friends. We kept the space minimal to a degree, doing the most justice to each piece as we could, without too much crowding, but while keeping the balance of a comfortable and welcoming space.

The palette is earthy and warm, full of rustic reds and jade greens, copper-tones and wood. I love to use cobalt blue to carry the eye around the space, and through to the next room. All the walls are light and neutral, which spreads the natural light through the mostly-open floor plan, keeping the feel of the house very airy. The interior hallway, however, serves as a really lovely transition to a more intimate and cooler toned rear of the house where the bedroom and bath are.

Thanks, Margaux!
