Martha Stewart Shares Whether She’s Team Real or Artificial Christmas Tree
Few people love the holidays as much as Martha Stewart, and it’s no surprise that she goes all out when it comes to decorating. Stewart leaves no stone unturned when bringing the holiday spirit to her many homes (yes, homes plural), recently sharing on Instagram that one of her top decorating tips is to put a tree in every single room.
Given that the lifestyle mogul famously lives on an 156-acre farm, you might expect that Stewart’s team dutifully cuts down trees each year for her ahead of the holidays. Turns out, she’s actually a fan of an artificial Christmas tree, but that doesn’t mean she keeps things boring.
Stewart recently shared her holiday plans with Architectural Digest, revealing whether or not she’s team natural or artificial tree. “You would think I would only do natural trees,” she mused. “Well, I grow the natural trees, but I actually use [Martha Stewart brand] beautiful pre-lit artificial trees in every single room. So in one room I might have four beautiful trees, but each room is a different color scheme, the windows are decorated, the wreaths are hung everywhere. It’s really pretty.”
As for how many trees she has, Stewart tallied, “Depends, but maybe 15 or 16. One room will be green, one room will be pink, one will be silver, one will be gold, one will be a golden-silver. I have many, many trees, and I have antique as well as modern, pre-lit trees. I like eclectic things.”
Naturally, Stewart doesn’t stop there when it comes to decorating her homes. “I have three houses that we decorate completely for Christmas,” she shared. “One will be a cookie house, one will be a dessert house, and one will be the main course house. People wander from place to place and everything is pretty decorated. Even the stable is decorated; you can stop by and visit the horses.”
OK, so you might not have multiple homes nor the budget for more than a dozen fake trees, but Stewart definitely has a point when it comes to having your main tree and perhaps adding a small one to your bedroom, office, kitchen, or basement to help make spirits bright all season long. The Stewart-approved addition be an unexpected delight to guests and you’ll get to enjoy the holiday spirit throughout your space.
