The fact that gardening extraordinaire Martha Stewart didn’t have her own rose variety until this point is somewhat unbelievable, considering she has so many rose growing tips. But she’s finally created one, and you can plant it in your own garden soon! The Martha Rose, much like her floral arranging style, is utterly gorgeous, and it will become the star of your cutting garden next summer.

“Yesterday one of my chores was to pick, plant, and even arrange the new shipment of Martha Stewart roses from @starrosesandplants,” Stewart wrote in a recent Instagram caption. “The rose, which I chose as the Martha Rose two years ago, is now a real product.”

“It is a sturdy bush, the flowers are large and abundant, and they are extremely fragrant,” she continued. “Star is growing a very large number of bushes for next year. If you did not get some Martha roses this year, please put in your order for next spring.”

You Can Now Plant a Rose Picked by Martha Stewart

Grown by Star Rose and Plants, the Martha Stewart Rose is a fluffy pink Hybrid Tea bloom with “over 100 petals unfurling in shades of ballet pink and apricot,” according to the website. The scent is a light blend of citrus and honeysuckle, with notes of bergamot and lemon verbena. Because the rose bush is compact, it’s a great variety for smaller gardens.

However, if you can’t snag a Stewart rose, you should consider these floral beauties available at The Home Depot. They’re a similar color and they’re described as “knock out roses” and I can see why. The flowers are just under $40 and are apparently very low maintenance.

Some lucky Martha Stewart fans were able to pick up a few bushes this season, and the reports so far are that the fragrance is to die for. “The fragrance is magnificent, sweet with just a hint of lemon,” one person commented on Stewart’s post. “I have five plants, love them!”

“Mine is blooming now. Beautiful!” another commenter added, with someone else writing, “my Martha Rose bush is my pride and joy!”

You can locate your nearest retailer that carries the Martha Rose using the store locator on Star’s website. Depending on your retailer, you can sign up to be on a wait list for next year, or you can call your nearest store to see if there are any bushes still in stock. These roses are worth the wait — and if they’re Stewart’s favorite rose, they’re bound to become your favorite rose, too!
