A mystical theme calls to mind fortune tellers on a boardwalk, tarot readings, and the spectacle of discovery. For the party decorations, we used deep jewel tones that are colorful and rich, with yards of fabric in competing patterns.

DIY Themed Banner

Just like rooms, parties need a large focal point – a statement piece that makes a huge impact. For this year’s Halloween party, we created a large art banner based on a vintage palmistry board game. It’s pretty easy to do yourself, and here’s how:

The food table was covered with lit (and dripping!) candles, tarot cards, brass accessories, and was covered in towers of books.

DIY CUSTOMIZED PLATES

Thrifted plates were customized with image transfers to create special one-of-a-kind tableware for the party. Read more about the process:

DIY FAVOR BAGS

Each kid received a muslin bag filled with chocolate coins, a fortune telling fish, and fortune cookies. The bags were decorated with easy iron-on transfers using images from the backs of tarot cards and Alexander the Magician, and embellished with some ribbon.
