Meghan Markle’s Latest Appearance Nods to Her Upcoming Children’s Book
Now that she has stepped away from her royal duties, Meghan Markle has been hard at work on all kinds of projects, from her activism work with her husband, Prince Harry, as part of their recently launched Archewell Foundation to deals with Netflix, Spotify, and Disney, the soon-to-be mom of two has definitely been busy lately.
She’ll soon add another illustrious title to her resume: author. In June, Markle will release her first children’s book, “The Bench“, which “captures the special relationship between father and son, as seen through a mother’s eyes,” and is no doubt inspired by her own growing family and the bond between Harry and their son, Archie. The book’s theme and illustrations points to conversations on a bench as being a poignant and powerful part of the story, and it seems like the couple has been hinting at a special bench in their own Montecito, California yard during a handful of recent video appearances.
The couple first appeared on the distressed teak wood bench last September in a video message to celebrate the annual TIME 100 list of the world’s most influential people.
The bench then made another appearance in December, with Markle speaking solo to honor frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic for “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute”.
Markle sat on the bench for yet another public appearance in May, recording a video message for Global Citizen’s “VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World“, and the garden bench certainly appears to be a nod to her upcoming book, which was inspired by a poem she wrote for Prince Harry on his first Father’s Day after they welcomed Archie in 2019.
Although the couple hasn’t confirmed the speculation or given info about the exact bench they have, there are plenty of similar options available on Wayfair at varying price points.
