Name: Melissa
Location: Central Business District — New Orleans, Louisiana

My husband and I sold our 2,300 square foot house and downsized to a 1,000 square foot apartment in the heart of the Central Business District. I love all of the home tours Apartment Therapy has done in New Orleans, but haven’t found any in our neighborhood. The CBD is a booming neighborhood where empty parking lots are becoming trendy apartments, retail and restaurants. Our building is around 100 years old and used to be a furniture warehouse. After Katrina it was heavily renovated and turned into a residential space.

We had our first child last year and love the convenience of living in the city. We are blocks away from 3 street car lines, the Super dome, Mardi Gras parades and Lafayette Square. The style of our home would be eclectic-modern touches against an industrial backdrop with pops of color.

Thanks, Melissa!
