Michael’s “Coquette” Decor Is Blowing Up on TikTok
In recent months, yet another aesthetic has taken over TikTok: coquette, which embraces all things traditionally feminine and romantic and has racked up over 6.1 billion views on the video-sharing app. In terms of home decor, this translates to retro accents, pastel colors, and florals and frills galore. However, you don’t have to head out to a fancy home goods store to create the coquette oasis of your dreams. In fact, you might just find everything you need at your local Michaels.

TikTok user Aparna Arul (@aparnaarul) was struck by how well the craft store’s decor fits the coquette aesthetic currently sweeping the app.
She recently shared a TikTok video panning across the store’s aisles, focusing on a handful of items in particular: a sculpture-shaped candle, a hollowed-out book covered in floral patterns, dainty pink and white candleholders, and a whole host of floral chinaware, just to name a few.
“The coquette girlies are going to go feral at Michaels,” Arul captioned the video, which has since racked up over 474,600 likes and 2 million views.
Clearly, plenty of fellow TikTokers are also enamored with the craft store’s aesthetic appeal.
“Aphrodite devotees going crazy right now,” one TikTokker wrote, while another pointed out that now is the perfect time to stock up on these items, adding: “Valentine’s is the peak time for coquette.”
As another TikToker put it, many of these items could fit within the “shabby chic” descriptor: “That’s just shabby chic!! Hahaha. Cool it’s making a comeback 20 years later.”
In case you aren’t able to pop over to your local Michaels, one user gave some tips for finding even more “shabby chic” and coquette-adjacent knick-knacks on the company’s website.
“Search floral, filter new arrivals, brand Ashland [Tea Garden],” they wrote.
Good luck, coquette lovers!
