It looks like the Obama family will be back in their ritzy Martha’s Vineyard rental next summer. But this time, the sprawling seven-bed, eight-and-a-half bath estate will be theirs for good. Former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama just shelled out a whopping $11.75 million on the nearly 7,000-square-foot waterfront home. And while that may seem like an exorbitant amount to us commoners, the Obamas actually scored the property at a massive discount, according to

Located in the Edgartown section of Martha’s Vineyard, the Obama’s new home is set on over 29 acres of space directly on Edgartown Great Pond. Built in 2001, the contemporary-style estate is the epitome of summer chic. The living room features a vaulted ceiling and cozy stone fireplace, perfect for entertaining guests or just enjoying a quiet night at home. There’s also a more casual family room that features a large fireplace and game area. A spacious chef’s kitchen has every amenity you could dream of, from stainless steel appliances to bar seating and addition eat-in space. A more formal dining area has surrounding walls of windows that allow the New England light to stream in. The sun room is an added bonus, with a stone fireplace and more walls of oversized windows.

Continue upstairs via the curved staircase and visit the master suite, the epitome of luxurious oceanfront living. There’s a comfortable fireplace and seating area, as well as doors that lead out to the private sundeck where the view stretches all the way from the rolling, grassy yard to the sparkling waterfront. There’s also a built-in hot tub, perfect for soaking under the stars on a summer night. Back inside, the master bath is a luxurious private oasis, with his/hers sinks and a deep soaking tub. The estate has a variety of stunning spaces outdoors too, ranging from multiple stone patios and a sparkling swimming pool to prime waterfront spots for grabbing a kayak and paddling away.

The stunning waterfront home was built by Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousebeck, and he leased it to the Obama family this past summer. Grousebeck first put the home on the market in 2015 for $22.4 million, followed by a price drop to $16.25 million. Back in August when the Obamas moved in for the summer, the price was knocked down again to $14.85 million. However, guessed they’d manage to get the price down even further, and that’s when it made its way to $11.75 million.
