This Mid-Century House Is Surprisingly “Dark, Moody, and Modern” Inside
“Our house is a 1963 build, flat-roof, mid-century modern Eichler, designed by A. Quincy Jones,” begins Rhythm of the 1367-square-foot, three-bedroom house in the Bay Area that she’s owned for three years with her husband (it’s also home to their dog, Jupiter, and their cat, Anubis).
“There are only five other homes that have the same footprint as our home within the community, which makes our model a little bit more rare to ever come on the market. For the last three years, we have been painstakingly renovating every single room in the house from drywall to entirely rebuilding rooms and spaces to thoroughly reflect our personalities.”
“Our space is a vibrant blend of dark, moody tones, colorful accents, and classic mid-century modern charm. Growing up in India, I was surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colors, a vivid experience that’s mirrored in every room of our house,” Rhythm writes, explaining that above all, she and her husband wanted a home that would be reflective of their personalities.
“So you’ll see big beautiful artworks, lots of gorgeous mid-mod furniture,” Rhythm continues. She explains that the kitchen is “where most of the people that come to our home spend their time. Gathering around the kitchen island and/or around the dining room table. Always with lots of laughs. Lots of food to share and lots of memories made together and stories exchanged. That’s why I love the space.”
Thanks, Rhythm!
