Name: Amanda Campbell, husband and two daughters
Location: Beaumont, Alberta, Canada
Size: 1,500 square feet
Years lived in: 10 years, owned

Our house was built in 1993 on four acres of land just outside Edmonton, Alberta (Northern Canada!). When we purchased the property in 2008 it was in need of a little TLC… the original pink carpet, ’90s popcorn ceilings, and dated fixtures were all still intact. Over 10 years we have slowly turned our little bungalow into a modern version of an English country cottage with farmhouse flair. I do the design and my incredibly handy husband brings my visions to life. We share our home with two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth, 7, and Hannah, 5!

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is the mudroom we added to the house in 2017. It completely changed the way we lived in our home. The front entrance is open to the main living room and we would have coats, boots, and backpacks on display at all times. Having a dedicated space to put these things has contained the clutter of comings and goings and made our home feel clean and serene!

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? Location! I would move our home somewhere warmer! Living in Northern Canada means long winters. We’ve made our home winter-friendly with a wood burning stove insert in the living room that is capable of heating the whole house. We also enjoy hosting skating parties on our pond and snowy white Christmases, but I’d still move closer to a warm beach if given the opportunity!

Any advice for creating a home you love? Stay true to yourself and design your home for you and your family. Trends come and go, but in your own home the only thing that matters is the comfort and happiness of the people who live there. Our style is a mix of English country and modern farmhouse! You don’t have to fit into any particular design style or follow strict design rules to curate a beautiful home. Make it unique! Make it yours!
