Modernizing a Family Home for a New Generation
Project by: Amy Jameson of Jameson Interiors
Location: St. Johns – Austin, Texas
Amy Jameson’s client was ready to pass their childhood home on to their daughter, but knew it needed some serious upgrading. They called in Amy to modernize the kitchen and expand the footprint of the home. The addition of an island, as well as a thorough upgrade of almost everything in the space, resulted in a bright and modern new kitchen that is sure to please generations to come.
From Amy: This mid-century remodel is a unique project in that the homeowner grew up in the house (but had been using it as a rental property for years) and now wanted to remodel it for her daughter. The transformation is incredible! The project scope included a master bedroom and bathroom addition on the back of the house, full interior and exterior remodel of all existing areas in the house with custom finishes throughout.
The most notable metamorphosis is in the kitchen. The new layout allowed for us to keep the main appliances (range, refrigerator, sink) in the same locations, but the addition of the island nearly doubled the usable counter space. New stainless steel appliances (Bosch range, Zephyr vent hood, Jenn Air refrigerator/freezer), countertops (Vicostone), plumbing fixtures (Kohler Whitehaven farmhouse sink, Grohe Concetto Faucet), lighting (Bobo Intriguing Objects Wooden Polyhedron Chandelier at dining, West Elm Globe Pendants at island). The result is a practically brand new modern home with clean lines and a calming color palette.
Thanks so much Amy and the Jameson Interiors team!
