Mask Your Clutter With These Zoom Backgrounds Inspired by Iconic TV Show Interiors

While working from home has its benefits (comfy pants, private bathroom, pets allowed), one of the drawbacks is that, with video meetings, all your coworkers are virtually entering your living space.

And, particularly if you live in a small apartment, it can be difficult to find a neutral, tidy backdrop that doesn’t show the intimate details of your home life (piles of laundry, collection of puppets…we’re not here to judge).

To solve this problem, home design site Modsy has created background images that can be used with video conferencing platform Zoom.

Instead of sharing your own cluttered bookshelf, you can appear to work from iconic rooms from TV shows like Friends, Frasier, Gilmore Girls, Golden Girls, Will and Grace, and House of Cards.

On its blog, Modsy explains how the backgrounds work with Zoom:

“Scroll down and find your new favorite WFH set-up. Click on your favorite image (or two or all of them) and save it to your desktop.

“To use this feature in Zoom it requires specific settings, or you’ll look like a ghost! Check their site to see if your settings match. Then, make sure your Zoom account administrator has the Virtual Background setting enabled. When you’re on a Zoom call you’ll be able to change your background by clicking the little arrow next to the ‘start video/stop video’ button. Then select ‘choose a virtual background.’ Click the plus (+) button on the right and add your favorite reimagined image.”
