These Are the Most Festive Cities in the U.S.
It’s no secret that everyone approaches the holiday season differently. While some people are ready to bust out the Christmas carols and deck the halls as soon as Halloween ends, others are happy to enjoy a candy cane and call it a day. But just how festive is your city compared to others in the U.S. overall?
To find out, the team at homecare app Thumbtack set out to determine the most festive cities in the U.S. To do so, the company looked at data from millions of home projects booked across all 50 states, ranking cities based on the frequency with which they requested help with Christmas-y tasks (such as the installation and removal of holiday lighting). 85% of Americans celebrate Christmas each year, but that doesn’t mean that holiday spirit is shared equally.
The top two spots both belong to cities in the Lone Star State. Austin, Texas takes first place, and with yearly highlights like the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park and the Peppermint Parkway drive-thru holiday experience, it’s easy to see why.
Dallas Ft. Worth, Texas takes the silver medal. During the holidays, visitors can enjoy a cowboy Christmas courtesy of Fort Worth’s Christmas in the Stockyards, or hit up the European-style Texas Christkindl Market for plenty of shopping and food.
Coming in third place is Seattle, Washington. The Pacific Northwestern city goes all out for Christmas, from putting on an annual Winterfest event to creating a massive Sheraton Grand Seattle Gingerbread Village each year.
Other cities that ranked highly include Houston, Texas, Denver, Colorado, and Phoenix Arizona (coming in at fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively).
