The Outside of This Forest Home Is Tranquil, But the Walls Inside are Something Else
If an idyllic redwood home situated on two acres in the middle of an actual forest in California sounds like your idea of an enchanted fairytale dream, one Twitter user has found the home for you. From the outside, this two-bed, two-bath home with updated features throughout looks like a charming cabin abode, but once you look inside, there’s a different vibe altogether.
Cartoonist Julia Wertz was browsing Zillow when she stumbled upon a listing for this 1,078 square foot wooded oasis for $625,000 in Sonoma County. But Wertz noted how the listing sort of glossed over the fact that several of the walls in the house are covered—floor to ceiling—in rather intricate murals.
To be fair, the listing does call attention to the elaborate artwork on the walls, noting, “Once the home of a local artist, the house has elegant murals in the living room and dining room, light by large windows and skylights, lending it a fairytale feeling.” So if some splashes of color and design—in every room—is what inspires you, you’re sure to enjoy endless inspiration here.
All jokes aside, the home has plenty of fabulous features, including a large main bedroom on the ground floor with a sliding glass door that provides private access to the leafy yard, along with a third floor loft space that could serve as an office or additional bedroom. There’s an updated kitchen, which is separated by a living room and a formal dining room, with brand new carpeting throughout. Each bedroom also has a walk-in closet, with an outdoor shed on the property for extra storage space.
A spacious deck and a 5-10 minute walking time to nearby Mother’s Beach offer the best of both worlds, so honestly, if you’re not scared off by some bold paint choices, this might just be your dream home.
