The Jenna Lyons-Approved Candle Trend You’re About to See Everywhere
Taper candles had a major moment in 2023 with a mix of classic white styles, pastels, and DIY twisted designs gracing feeds everywhere. But, with a new year on the horizon, this trend is going even more elegant with a small space-friendly transformation: an elongated, impossibly slender design.
Extremely tall, narrow iterations of standard taper candles have started gaining popularity, and it’s easy to see why. They boast a certain level of sophistication while blending beautifully into virtually any home decor style — from traditional to mid-century modern and boho to cottagecore. Since these candles are more elongated, they work particularly well in smaller homes or rooms by taking advantage of vertical space and drawing your eye upwards. They’re also beautiful when interspersed in multiples with charcuterie boards or family-style spreads, which can be a look that’s hard to pull off with wider tapers and candleholders. Note that these thinner, longer candles can have relatively short burn times, but they’re often sold in bulk at just a few dollars per candle.
I’m already seeing this trend pick up momentum on social media, too. Fashion designer-turned-reality star Jenna Lyons was recently photographed with these candles on display in her New York City apartment, and interiors stylist Colin King has incorporated dramatic-looking slender tapers into a handful of tablescape projects. If you want to get ahead of the trend for cozy winter hosting, I rounded up some of the best narrow taper candlesticks from Etsy, Anthropologie, and more.
