“Our careers are coincidentally intertwined — Jason is a skilled carpenter, and I work in forecasting for home interiors,” she says. “It almost feels like fate brought us together.” 

After a year and a half, the couple made that dream a reality and moved south. In May 2021, Amanda and Jason purchased a three-bedroom house after six months of enduring the competitive East Nashville housing market. 

“I was thrilled when Jason and I finally found this fixer-upper that we could truly make our own,” Amanda explains. “Built in 1989, the house had all the typical design elements of that era — extreme textured ceilings and predominantly beige interiors. The previous owner had done some painting, but it was truly a blank slate.” 

It wasn’t long after moving in that the pair started renovating the home. (The first project was removing the textured ceilings.) Because of their backgrounds, Amanda and Jason wanted to transform the “blank canvas for their combined style” on their own. So far, they’ve finished several rooms, and Amanda admits that they have about a quarter of the remodel left. 

“We absolutely love hosting and documenting our renovation journey on Instagram and TikTok,” Amanda shares. “It’s our first renovation, but definitely not our last, and we want to remember every step of this exciting process.”
