Interior designer Nate Berkus is the king of giving design tips away for free on Instagram. And in a short yet sweet video posted to his feed on September 12, Berkus did a rapid-fire Q&A round and answered some of his most-asked questions.

So, what are the designer’s thoughts on having a television in the bedroom?

“Ooh, no TV. Not in the bedroom,” Berkus said. “Although, when I don’t feel well I really wish I had one.”

And sorry to all you ceiling fan fans. Berkus gave a firm “nope” to the ceiling fan question, so if you want to subscribe to the Book of Berkus, you’ll have to find another way to cool down during the warmer months.

Though, fingers crossed he wouldn’t be too off-put by more stylish ceiling fan options rather than the standard big box store selection. People who live in the southern states wrote in the comments that they simply can’t do without them!

In the video, Berkus also said he will always choose vintage over new, coffee over tea, burgers over milkshakes, and he says mixing metals and marbles is always a good idea. But he simply won’t choose between dark or light interior paint. “Depends on the architecture,” he said.

And although Berkus doesn’t love the idea of putting rugs over wall-to-wall carpeting, he does like the look of layered area rugs in a space.

Berkus then shared his favorite scented candle: “Jeremiah Brent for Grove,” he said. Cue the awws!

Sadly, the Grove Co. x Jeremiah Brent Eucalyptus & Cypress soy candle is currently out of stock, but the site says it will be back soon.

We won’t tell Berkus if you do decide to put a TV in your bedroom. What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
