Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent’s PetSmart Collection Includes A Hamster Couch
Beloved designers Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are no strangers to creating warm, inviting homes. Now they’ve set out to do the same for pets in their new collaboration with PetSmart, which combines chic mid century modern designs and natural materials to create products that we honestly wish came in human sizes.
Dogs and cats are often the focus of pet parent campaigns, so Berkus and Brent mixed things up by creating decor with smaller pets in mind, from fish to reptiles to small pets. The best part? These products are designed to fit in seamlessly with pet parents’ own design sensibilities, so you can keep your pets happy without sacrificing your own style.
“We wanted to create a collection for PetSmart that helps bring people and pets even closer together,” Berkus said in a release. “Our design philosophy is rooted in making spaces feel warm and inviting. With this collection, our hope is that we’ve been able to give pets the same level of functionality and style as their pet parents.”
Brent added: “We loved the challenge of bringing spaces and atmospheres to life that not only feel rich with personality but can also be worked into a variety of styles. The idea was to create furniture and accessories that are contemporary but also timeless – items that tell the story of the people and pets who live there.”
Highlights of the collection include faux leather and faux sherpa couches ($19.99) for hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, and other rodents (human-size versions next, please!); an assortment of spiced mahogan and raven oak stands designed to hold everything from fish aquariums to reptile terrariums ($399.99); and a variety of aquatic decorations, ranging from a faux blue agave plant ($14.99) to an aquarium-sized wooden archway ($24.99) to swim-through pottery ($19.99).
