If you’ve been following along, you know I’m on a bit of a mission to perfect our backyard oasis. That quest has also made me Apartment Therapy’s unofficial outdoor furniture tester — and honestly, I couldn’t love the assignment more. For years, I’ve been chasing an outdoor sofa that didn’t feel like an outdoor sofa. You know the type: beautiful from across the patio, but stiff, shallow, or uncomfortable after 20 minutes. I’ve always wanted something that looks elevated but also invites you to stay awhile with your morning coffee.

That’s exactly what I hoped to find in the Neighbor Roundabout Sofa. Its woven wicker design immediately caught my eye because it looked far more refined than most outdoor furniture I’d seen, and after living with it for more than two months, I can confidently say it’s become one of my favorite seats in the house — even though it technically isn’t in the house.

Design Features That Immediately Stood Out

Wicker outdoor sofas aren’t all created equal. In fact, after shopping for what felt like forever, I realized most fall into one of two camps: they’re either comfortable but bulky, or stylish but surprisingly stiff. The Neighbor Roundabout Sofa stood out from the moment I saw it online. The woven wicker has an elevated, handcrafted look that honestly made me do a double take. I remember thinking that if it weren’t for the wicker frame, it could easily pass as an indoor designer sofa. We added striped accent pillows to ours to match our monochromatic geometric theme and now it’s just screaming indoor/outdoor sofa.

The thing I noticed almost immediately was the bench cushion. Instead of separate seat cushions with seams down the middle, it’s one long, plush cushion that’s perfect for stretching out however you want. It’s just as comfortable for sipping your morning coffee by yourself as it is for cuddling up with your partner, your kids, or even a couple of dogs (ask my schnauzers). I also ended up loving the lower profile. It sits a little closer to your outdoor coffee or end table, so the whole setup feels relaxed and cozy without disappearing into the space. Assembling this gem was refreshingly simple, too. My husband and I had everything together in about 20 minutes, which felt surprisingly quick for a sofa this substantial.

How It Performed After Two Months

The biggest surprise in testing this sofa wasn’t how beautiful it looks, but rather that it’s unbelievably comfortable too. The seat is incredibly deep, and the oversized cushions have that sink-in feeling I usually associate with a luxury indoor sofa. The first time I sat down, I immediately thought it felt more like lounging on an outdoor daybed than a traditional patio couch. It’s the kind of sofa that makes you lose track of time. Because it sits a little lower to the ground, it’s also incredibly comfortable around a fire pit. You don’t feel perched on top of the furniture — you feel settled into it. It’s quickly become my favorite place to drink my morning coffee, answer emails, or unwind after work. I was equally curious about how the Sunbrella fabric would hold up. Our patio gets intense sun, and we’ve had plenty of outdoor cushions fade long before they should. We chose the Heritage Charcoal fabric, and after more than two months of daily use, it still looks new and the color hasn’t changed at all. Plus, light rain practically beads off the fabric, and the cushions continue to feel just as plush as the day we unboxed them.

One thing I would recommend: order fabric swatches before making your final decision. Heritage Charcoal isn’t a flat charcoal or black — it has beautiful flecks woven throughout that give it added dimension. We absolutely love it, but if you’re expecting a true solid charcoal, another fabric choice from the line may be a better fit for your space. The biggest compliment I can give this sofa is that it completely changed how we use our patio. Instead of feeling like a place we occasionally visit, it now feels like another living room — just one that’s outside. I also appreciate that Neighbor designed the Roundabout Collection as a full system. If you fall in love with the sofa, there’s a coordinating oversized lounge chair, chaise, and other modular pieces that make it easy to build out the space over time without everything feeling overly matched.

Should You Buy the Neighbor Roundabout Sofa?

If your biggest priority is creating an outdoor space that’s just as inviting as your living room, I think the Neighbor Roundabout Sofa is absolutely worth considering. It’s an investment, but it also feels like one. Between the thoughtful design, exceptionally comfortable cushions, durable Sunbrella fabric, and beautiful craftsmanship, it delivers on the three things I care about most in outdoor furniture: comfort, durability, and style.

After two months, I still look forward to sitting on it daily — which, to me, is the best endorsement a piece of furniture can earn.
