Sneak Peek: Our Newest Collaboration with Interior Define!
Here’s a sneak peek of the one, the only Ms. Chesterfield.
I’ve been sitting on another secret for WAY too long. I’m thrilled that I can FINALLY share our newest collaboration with Interior Define with all of you. Ready for 2017, here’s my interpretation of the iconic Chesterfield sofa: a sleeker, sexier and more modern version, and she’s called Ms. Chesterfield. Just last week I got the chance to go to Chicago, see her in person and snap some photos, and while it’s officially hitting the market next Thursday, I am so pleased with how she has come out that I just had to show you a few photos ahead of time.
Remember way back in 2016 when my friends Rob and Marta at Interior Define let me get back to my roots and try my hand at a sofa design? After months of brainstorming and back-and-forth, the Maxwell Sofa was born, including the Sectional, the Chair and Ottoman, and finally the Double Chaise.
We weren’t even finished releasing all the pieces of the collection when we started brainstorming round two: a Maxwell + Interior Define Chesterfield sofa.
When Marta suggested doing a Chesterfield, I was hesitant at first. I have never had a personal affection for this style, which is typically heavy, leather, hard in the seat and reeks “men’s club.” Faced with the challenge, however and with Marta willing to let me break with tradition, I drew inspiration from contemporary Italian sofas and drew, cut and pasted one with a much sleeker, lighter, sexy feminine look.
Working with their team, we discussed everything from leg shape to tufting measurements to throw pillows — it was a lot of work, and it truly paid off. I don’t want to give too much away, but look where we ended up!
There’s a whole story behind this beautiful Chesterfield that I will share with all of you next week, but for now just check out my Daily Find story on our Instagram @ApartmentTherapy for some more beautiful details.
