Garima Gautam and her husband bought this home — a two-bedroom, 1,264-square-foot apartment — in the beginning of 2021 and moved in during the pandemic. “We couldn’t opt for any professional interior services and decided to design our home ourselves in [a] slow-phased manner,” Garima describes.

"This is our very narrow entryway and in order to create some drama, we opted for some dark colors here and added a vintage style mirror."

“We have always loved vintage elements and English cottages so we decided to [add] aesthetics into our apartment. But we always try to make sure to keep it functional and under our budget.”

"This is my favorite corner in the living room. We added wall molding two years back, and it has added so much character to the walls." The gallery wall's art prints are from Etsy, the end table is from Amazon, and the older couch was reupholstered in a "beautiful green" fabric.

“We are mindful while designing different corners of home, and while our home is still a work in progress, we are quite happy with the progress we have made so far,” continues Garima, who says she identifies with color, art, and “adding lots of vintage elements into our home.”

"My best advice is to take it slow, find your style, and also remember functionality is important in the long run," Garima writes.

They have done a lot of DIYs to fix up their home, like adding molding to the living room walls, creating a board and batten wall in the guest room, wallpapering the entryway, and more. Garima says she, her husband, and their 6-year-old daughter spend a lot of time indoors, and this apartment is “slowly turning into our own cozy haven.”

Garima says the last thing she purchased was a "beautiful vintage style arm chair for my living room."

Thanks, Garima and family!
