The celebrity interior designer and lifestyle expert who launched BE by Brittaney Elise Minton knows how to design a space that wows. She’s designed several of the new Bellami Beauty Bars and the Calabasas residence of Bellami Hair’s founder, Nikki Eslami (a house which was once owned by Kylie Jenner!) She’s worked with celebrities like Zendaya and Selena Gomez. She’s designed spaces from hair salons to tattoo parlors. Every project has seen her signature combination of beauty, glam and style, including her own Manhattan rental apartment.

“My new NYC home is the epitome of everything that is ‘BEautiful’ to me!” writes Brittaney. “Recently expanding from Los Angeles to New York, designing this particular home felt like a perfect expression of everything that embodies the woman I am at 30. From the dreamy wallpaper, to the added Parisian moldings, to the custom-designed furniture—I simply created a space that felt true to me; functionally and aesthetically.”

With plenty of other glamorous projects on the horizon, she also has something else exciting coming up in 2018; she is in progress of launching her own collection of home decor pieces and print designs.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Contemporary blended with traditional elements and an eclectic touch!

Inspiration: Every well-rounded corner of my life.

Favorite Element: I can’t pick just one! But the floral wallpaper on my bedroom ceiling is a pretty favorite. There are certain parts of the delicate, moody pattern that attach to certain conversations… daydreams… AHA-moments—that I can recall within seconds of fixation onto a certain peony, ladybug, rose, bumblebee, or butterfly.

Biggest Challenge: This epic building and its insanely narrow elevator shafts, stairwells, and hallways! (like most NYC buildings). The bookcase in my living room was no easy task. When I purchased the piece I thought, “Fantastic! it’s perfect.” I measured correctly and—it was listed online to arrive in separate parts “assembly required”—I expected this thing to arrive in pieces.

Nope! This massive assembled piece of work didn’t even have bolted points to unscrew it apart. Insert newly discovered line of business: A furniture surgeon. Yes, that’s right, I eventually hired a “furniture surgeon” to come to the basement of my apartment building (where this piece had been sitting for a week, as I had been flying in/out of town for work at the time), cut the whole thing apart, move it up the stairwell (still would not fit into the elevator… poor delivery guys) ,and reassemble into place…and voila! We add magician to my CV because you never would have guessed it by the looks of its comfortable position in my living room.

Proudest DIY: This is a tie between my custom-designed bedroom headboard and living room sofa—because I take such pride in my work, and was so humbled to see a few designs finally come to life for my own space; vs. my very minimal (but very hands-on) touch to making that butterfly mirror in my foyer the perfect shade of gold by adding my personal, hand-painted touch.

Biggest Indulgence: Cozy textiles—anything and everything soft!

Best Advice: Invest in the larger, lasting statement pieces that you will use the most—keep the trend-of-the-moment colors and patterns to the less expensive accent decor, in the wall/ceiling paint, and/or temporary wallpaper!
