Bright kitchen with white cabinets, a marble countertop, knife rack, jars, and a small potted plant by the window.

I love cooking and baking, but I used to dread the aftermath. After a messy recipe, my counters would be a chaotic landscape of rogue baking soda, flour, and various spices. The cleanup felt so overwhelming that I actually started using my kitchen less. That is, until a barista friend (whose kitchen is perpetually spotless) shared her secret: She uses a miniature desktop vacuum for every single dry spill on her countertops. So I headed to Amazon and found the perfect one for me: the ODISTAR desktop vacuum cleaner.

What Is the ODISTAR Desktop Vacuum Cleaner?

The ODISTAR desktop vacuum cleaner is a mini gadget that works by maneuvering it over messes. It uses high-density brushes on the bottom that agitate particles while the internal suction pulls them up instantly. It’s just 3.1 inches long, 3.1 inches wide, and 2.85 inches tall, so it can fit in any pantry, drawer, or cabinet. This cordless mini vacuum has a capacity of 200 milliliters and comes in five varieties: a battery-operated in white (the one I have) or orange, a USB-charging version in white or orange, and a wireless charging version in white only.

Why I Love the ODISTAR Desktop Vacuum Cleaner

My barista friend’s mini vacuum hack is so brilliant in its simplicity. With just a quick swipe, the ODISTAR picks up any dry particles in a snap without needing to wet a towel or bring out a bigger cleaning device. Because it sits in a drawer near my kitchen counter, it’s always accessible and easy to grab when I need it. Now I don’t stress about the mess while I’m in the zone.

Once I’m finished cooking or baking, I simply use the vacuum along my surfaces to reset my kitchen. My mini vacuum has moved beyond cooking messes, too — I always run it along my dining room table and bathroom countertops to pick up crumbs and stray hairs before bed.

It was originally designed for vacuuming pencil and eraser shavings, but it works great to pick up dust on a keyboard or wall shelves, and even crumbs in the car. It has a 360-degree rotatable design and lasts 90 minutes per charge (and longer for the non-battery versions), so it’s great for getting into hard-to-reach nooks and crevices.

I’ve become such a fan that I’ve gifted this gadget to several of my friends and family members. They’re always skeptical at first, but they quickly become fans too — they’re usually amazed that something so small can have such a significant impact on their daily routines. It’s just one small trick that makes cleanup feel like less of a chore.
