My roommate and I live here with my cat, Baggy. We found the place through a friend of mine that was moving out after living there for years. She’s an interior designer as well and did a lot of work sprucing the place up while she lived there, so we can thank her for our hardwood floors and pastel paint colors. My roommate is super rad and doesn’t mind me bringing new things in all the time or moving furniture around at weird hours of the night. We love the exposed brick and the outdoor space; I’ve only ever lived in apartments before so to live in a house with a porch, patio, and backyard feels like heaven.

What is your favorite room and why? The sunroom. It’s where I wake up with my coffee every morning, read, meditate, pull tarot cards, etc. It’s definitely a sacred space, particularly when the sun beats directly on the daybed early in the morning. In the summer I open up all the windows and it almost feels like I’m outside. Most importantly, all my plants are thriving in there.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Ethereal bohemian haven

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? Storage! We only have one (very tiny) closet outside of our bedrooms and it’s behind our sofa, meaning we have to move the sofa every time we need to get in there—it doesn’t necessarily inspire me to vacuum.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? Another big, leafy plant buddy and a basket so I could avoid potting it.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t be too precious about it—I don’t believe perfectionism has any place in the home and how you furnish/decorate it. Drop the idea that there is a “right” and a “wrong” way to do things. Get your hands dirty, move things around, and see what resonates with you! You can always move things back. I’m also a big believer in moving very mindfully in and around your home, recognizing the sacred in the littlest of things like making a cup of coffee or hanging a new piece of art.
