Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My husband and I moved right before the pandemic hit and we are so glad we did. Now that we are both working from home, we are really maximizing our space, like converting the garage into my husband’s home office and our dining room table into my desk. This way, we’re able to use our second bedroom as a true sanctuary and space to relax and unwind.
My husband and I really value unique things and want our home to be a reflection of us. When you enter our home you’ll smell an earthy candle, you’ll notice a lot of plants, and then you’ll find a colorful palette of art, ceramics, and furniture.
We want our home to be warm and inviting with comfortable seating and different spaces to relax, like the bench seating we had made in our kitchen or the bonus room we call our “chill room.”
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Colorful, eclectic, plant-y, comfortable, and warm.
What is your favorite room and why? The “chill room” is slowly becoming my favorite space. It has a ’70s vibe with a burnt orange sofa, mustard curtains, and some vintage wood pieces. I love how all the different shades come together in this room. I’m taking my time decorating to ensure I really love every piece I bring into our home.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A comfortable leather chair for the corner of our living room and some of my favorite candles from Roen.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t rush to decorate your home. I sold the majority of our furniture when we moved so decorating our home has been a slow process but one I have thoroughly enjoyed. I buy one big ticket item a month, like a rug or chair, and then a few accent items like a planter or ceramic. And I only buy them after I do a mockup and really think about the piece in our home. I want everything to spark joy and be a piece we’ll love for years to come.
