This ‘90s Themed Candle Collection Is Like, Totally Nostalgic
Do you ever crave a return to the ‘90s? Gel roller pens, body glitter, and “Clueless” movie sleepovers galore! Well now, you can light up one of these candles inspired by the decade that’s been making a comeback.
Candle company Otherland just launched “The Carefree ‘90s Collection,” playing off of upbeat, colorful nostalgia. The collection is comprised of three new candles—Blue Jean Baby, Dreamlight, and Glosspop—all of which play up a different part of the totally rad era.
First up, we have Blue Jean Baby, which has a crystal clear name as to what it’s trying to portray. The fragrance notes include white musk, mimosa flower, and of course washed denim. It’s inspired by “those perfect Calvins” and will remind you of those nights doodling your crushes name in gel pens with your BFFs, according to the press release.
Then we have Dreamlight, made with notes of Wild Freesia, Plush Plumeria, and Juicy Tangerine. The inspiration for this one is body glitter and platforms, and is all about channeling your “inner Gap girl pop princess.” So whatever that might mean for you, embrace it.
And last but not least, there’s Glosspop: a strawberry gloss, hard candy, and frosted rose scent soundtrack, as the press release describes. We get vibes of hard candy lollipops and, while it’s not mentioned, old school lip gloss that tastes like bubble gum. And they mention it’ll have us “longing for pastel manicures” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” marathons.
All of the candles come with pastel packaging—ranging from purple to pink and blue—with the front labels portraying pattered, vibrant circular designs. The grunge half of the decade would never, but the perhaps the brand is saving those worn-out flannels for a later date.
The candles retail for $36 each, or $89 for the set of three.
