When we interviewed Shiza Shahid, the founder of Our Place way back in December 2020, she hinted that “more colors” would grace the cult-favorite Always Pan in the new year. Well, the first new color for 2021 is here: Meet Heat, a fiery red hue that’s all but inspired to fuel some passion in your daily cooking routine!

If you’re a longtime Always Pan fan, you’ll remember that the brilliant red color was first launched in 2020 as part of the brand’s Lunar New Year Collection. But the pieces sold out within days, and it took almost a year to bring back the vermillion shade. And given the brand’s history of consistently sold-out colors (remember the 30,000-person waitlist for Spice?), we’re pretty sure Heat will likely not stay in stock for long this time around as well.

Priced at $175, Heat is currently only available to buy as a bundle. So along with the pan, you also get bamboo steamer baskets and chopsticks that are perfect if you enjoy making dumplings at home. The steamer basket is also handy for cooking things like vegetables, sprouts, and fish, and sits perfectly on top of the Always Pan, eliminating the need for any additional tools or cookware.

But the hero of the bundle is the bright red Always Pan. Designed to function as eight pieces of cookware in one, the 2.6-quart pan has three-inch-deep sloped sides and can be used as a fry pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, and saucepan. The biggest pro, though, is the ceramic nonstick surface, which is ideal for cooking tricky items like crepes and delicate dosas. Kitchn contributor Patty Catalano who first tested the pan for us agrees the nonstick surface is a joy to cook with. “In the six months that I’ve been using the pan, I’ve never had a single scrambled egg stick, and dinner slides cleanly out — always,” she adds. “If your go-to pan is a nonstick pan because you hate the cleanup that comes with cooking, this is a great, smart upgrade.”

And once you’re done cooking, the pan is incredibly easy to clean. Simply soak it in warm soapy water and give it a good scrub for tough stains, or just toss it in the dishwasher, which is super convenient during busy weeknights. Lastly, since all Always Pans are crafted from partially recycled materials that are ethically sourced from female-owned factory partners, you can feel even better about your purchase.

Whether red is your favorite color (or your Valentine’s!), or you’re looking to add a bright pop to your kitchen, the Always Pan in Heat is absolutely worth snagging before it’s back to being sold out. The fact that you also get steamer baskets and chopsticks that are fun tools to zhuzh up your weeknight routine, is just an added bonus.
