Whether you’re already all kitted out with the essentials or are in desperate need of a new outdoor sofa or two, take inspiration from the professionals. Lindsey Jamison, Partner and Lead Designer at Rumor Designs has shared three of the most-popular outdoor furniture trends in 2022.

A staple in the interior design this world, we’ve been seeing a lot more curved lines in the last few years. From curved sofas to curved kitchen islands, curves add a more relaxed feel to a space, as apposed to harsher sharp lines.

“Curved furniture has a soft, calming feel,” comments Jamison Mix this with organic furniture shapes, a soft color palette, and greenery to create a serene, laid-back outdoor patio space,”

Adding a rustic, Boho vibe to any space—outdoor or otherwise—rattan and woven furniture is an easy way to instantly upgrade a space. Rattan tables and chairs are a great pick for al fresco dining, while woven baskets are ideal for storing any throw pillows and blankets. If you just want to add in a little rattan detailing, pair your plants with a stylish rattan planter.

“Rattan is a durable natural product, weather resistant and is a great way to add texture. It also fits into a variety of design aesthetics,” says Jamison.

Ceramic stools are not only great for bringing in extra seating options for those summertime gatherings, they’re also an easy way to add in color and personality to your outdoor area. An accent piece in their own right, you can choose from tons of styles and patterns.

“Although [ceramic stools] are still popular and functional, artists are taking this simple design and adding a flair with layered shapes, added tiers, multi-levels, and making garden stools more design forward,” adds Jamison.
