Attention, plant parents: Outside In, a relatively new houseplant and plant goods e-commerce shop, has launched the ultimate plant giveaway event. In celebration of the shop’s first birthday, Outside In is giving away 500 mystery plants throughout the next few weeks on a first come, first serve basis. No purchase is required to claim a plant — plant parents just need to cover the (discounted) shipping cost of $9.99.

Outside In launched the first giveaway on TikTok, and no surprise here, but the first 100 batch sold out fast. (Who doesn’t love a houseplant?) Like the plants themselves, the days and times of the batch drops will remain a complete mystery. For the best chance to secure a plant, follow Outside In on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Once the new drops are announced on social media, plant parents can head over to Outside In’s Free Plant landing page to claim a plant.

Some terms: plants are limited to one free plant per customer, and, of course, the shop cannot accommodate requests for specific plants. It’s supposed to be a mystery, after all. Once claimed, the mystery plants will be shipped within 5-12 weeks after the giveaway has ended. (For a comprehensive list of terms, visit Outside In’s giveaway page.)

In terms of what kind of plants to expect, a 3 to 4 inch (pot diameter) fully rooted, healthy, and established indoor houseplant will be sent out. For the curious: no spoilers, but the plants could include (but are not limited to) peperomias, snake plants, ZZ plants, succulents, monsteras, and pothos plants.

Launched in April 2020, Outside In is a woman-owned houseplant and house goods delivery service rooted in sustainability. The e-commerce shop does not use single-use plastic, ships with recyclable materials, grows plants locally (in Florida), and supports reforestation initiatives, according to its about page.

Follow Outside In on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook for batch updates.
