Regardless of your bedroom size, chances are you’re likely looking for more space. While there are many tips and organizers out there, one of the best — and simplest — tips comes from professional organizer Andrea Wolf (and she also happens to be my friend’s mom!). She says it’s all about making sure you buy the right closet hooks with multiple offshoots, because they can really make a difference.

In a TikTok video, Wolf (@organizedetroit on TikTok) offered some great tips for making a small closet work for you. One that really stood out to me is to get an over-the-door hook for your closet, but it’s not just getting the hook that’s the hack. It’s important to find one that has multiple hooks from a single offshoot to really maximize space. So, rather than getting a little more hanging space with a single hook, you’re getting double the extra hanging space. This simple closet addition could provide nearly a dozen extra hooks you didn’t have before.

Wolf likes this Encozy option sold on Amazon that has five hook placements and three offshoots on each where you can hang your belongings. It’s perfect for heavy sweatshirts, belts, purses, and towels.

You can have the hook facing inside your closet and keep your towels and sweatshirts concealed. Or, I would probably have this facing out in my room and use it to display my belts and purses for easy access.

If you don’t need as many hooks, Wolf says this Target option is also great and functional for a dorm room because it can also attach to the frame of the bed. This is a great alternative if your door is too thick for the hanger. Sure, you don’t get the additional offshoots, but it’s a perfect solution for if you really don’t have closet space. Your purses, belts, and hats will look great hanging from the end of your bed.

The most convenient aspect of these heavy-duty hangers is that there is no installation required. They simply slide right over the closet door or bed frame. I was constantly adding Command hooks to my walls in college; so if you’re like me and always adding more hooks to your closets, look no further. These products can give you so many more hangers, without any hassle.
