These Parachute Slippers Make Me Feel Like I’m Walking on a Cloud and I Never Want to Take Them Off
There are two types of shoes: indoor and outdoor. Never the twain shall meet. Perhaps it’s not the case in every home, but it certainly is in mine when I can manage it. I’ve been looking for a good pair of slippers for a while now, quietly envying my brothers’ slides while being unusually picky about what kind suited me. Socks and bare feet have been faithful stand-ins, but wearing socks means extra laundry, but when I’m not wearing them, I can get cold. However, I recently had the opportunity to try the Soft Rib Slippers by Parachute, and they’ve stepped up my slipper game for life.
As with most shoes, Parachute’s Soft Rib Slippers need some breaking in to fit comfortably, but you get a feel for how warm they are right away. They’re made of 100 percent cotton terry that’s knit into a sculpted ribbed design that snugly hugs your feet. By the end of the first week, the slippers felt like they were made just for me. The footbed is padded so every time you put them on, it’s like slipping into a cloud. They don’t fall off my feet when I walk around, and thanks to the non-slip rubber sole, they don’t slip and slide on my hard floors, either. Another great element about the sole is that it’s so easy to clean. Chances are, you aren’t regularly stepping into many big messes at home; but in case you’re like me and happen to tread through soil you spilled while repotting plants inside, it comes right off with soap and water. The entire slipper is even machine-washable, which is always a plus in my book.
If you’re mostly familiar with leather slides, then you might be new to the type of wear and tear that softer slippers may experience. A big factor is that once you’ve been walking around in them for a few weeks, they obviously won’t look exactly like they did out of the package. As attractive as they appear, the Soft Rib Slippers are made to be worn, not only admired. They’re modeled after sporty leather slides, but with the cozy touch of cotton. In order to mold to your form, the slipper has to change a little bit — otherwise it’s more likely to be stiff and uncomfortable. On my slippers, for example, the footbed is slightly narrower at the heel, where I put the most weight on it consistently. However, they haven’t lost that plush and soft feeling at all. My favorite thing is coming back home after a long day of errands and kicking off my shoes to put on the slippers. From the way I automatically relax, you’d think my apartment was a spa!
I wear these slippers all the time at home. They’re the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off before going to bed at night. In fact, if I don’t have them on at my apartment, then I’m probably sleeping. I’m even looking forward to cooler weather because I can already tell how warm the slippers will keep me through fall and winter. They’ve really become one of my go-to little comforts by starting and ending my day on the right foot!
