This Pastel-Painted Netherlands Home Used to Be a Library

What their family, which includes the couple and their three children, found wasn’t actually a home at all: The building that caught their eye was originally built in the 1800s as a school house, and in the last 25 years before the family’s purchase, was used as a library. The building’s storied history meant it came with loads of character and tons of light, as well as a tower (and bell!) on top of the roof. Another bonus: The new space was in the Groningen village in Northern Netherlands, which was close to their last home. 

At the time they saw this former library for sale, there wasn’t actually a kitchen or shower! But the family was so enthralled with the space they began renovations immediately. Fast forward all these years and the home now has plenty of bedrooms (and, yes, a kitchen and showers) and is full of pastels, patterns, and vibrancy that would make anyone happy.
