Patricia Jean’s Classic Romantic Home in Montreal
Name: Patricia Jean
Location: Montréal, Quebec
I am the first owner of this 600 square foot condo which was built in 2010 in a cute Montréal, Quebec neighborhood. For me, this condo represents freedom and adulthood. I knew this was my chance to create the ultimate bachelorette pad I had always dreamed of decorating without having to make any compromise.
So that’s what I did! When I first moved in, like most new constructions, the condo looked pretty standard without any special features and the usual finishes, except for the many floor to ceiling windows that give some character.
I’ve been trying to give the place a soul and to make it mine. I’m pretty happy with what I have achieved since I feel that my place definitely represents me : it’s girly, but not in an overwhelming way, it’s bright, it’s classy, it’s romantic, it’s inviting and cozy… It has become my home.
My place is a mix of old and new, of inexpensive stuff and of a bit more expensive items. Some of the old furniture was passed down to me from my mother, some I have found in antique fairs, some on the web. I have worked hard at transforming them, sanding and painting, and that’s what makes it special.
Although the architecture is pretty modern, I’ve added crown moulding and ceiling medallions to give it a classic, elegant look which fits with some of the French inspired furniture in the condo. In addition to mixing old and new furniture, I also mixed different materials throughout my home: wood, acrylic, crystal, metal… In the end, I feel like everything blends together well with the help of a neutral color palette and a uniform design style.
Thanks, Patricia Jean!
