Emma Stone & Glenn Close Are Just Two of the Former Stars To Live In This Chelsea Townhouse
Wondering where New York’s A-list lives? This townhouse in Chelsea has had quite the celebrity past, and now it’s back on the market—this time for $18.75 million.
6sqft reported Monday that the Greek Revival townhouse is back on the market, with a million dollar price drop (it was listed for $19.75 million back in January).
436 West 20th Street has been called home by many a star over the years, including Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield (while they filmed The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012), Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Glenn Close (for eight years, during which she filmed Fatal Attraction), Courtney Love, and Olivier Sarkozy (current husband of Mary-Kate Olsen).
Originally built in 1835, the property underwent an extensive remodeling and preservation less than a decade ago, and it still has “many of original moldings and salvaged historical details like mahogany doors, original mantles and wide plank pine floors.” While some of the modern updates include a hydraulic elevator, central air, and the oversized skylight in the penthouse, as well as upgraded electrical and plumbing systems.
The building is currently configured into five separate units that bring in about $600,000 per year in rental income (two available units are asking $9,950 and $10,550 per month). All in, the townhouse has “over 9,000 square feet of interior space with multiple outdoor terraces, a garden and ten wood-burning fireplaces spread over its five floors.” Can we talk about that brick soaking tub and shower? Yes, please.
The property is currently listed for $18.75 million.
