This Peel-and-Stick Hack Instantly Hides the Ugliest Spot in Your Kitchen
Peel-and-stick wallpaper and tiles have become a staple for DIYers everywhere. They can be used to add a pop of personality to the inside of drawers and cabinets, as renter-friendly wall coverings, and as makeshift rental-friendly backsplashes in bathrooms and kitchens.
But one weekend warrior just found a brand-new way to use peel-and-stick tiles in his kitchen, and the result will make you want to hit the dance floor. He disco-tiled his kitchen trash can, and it’s utterly genius.
“Even trash cans can be fun, too!!” content creator Juan Marquez wrote in a recent caption.
“Omg stopppppl I neeeedddd to do thissss,” one person commented on Juan’s post, which has since racked up over thirty thousand likes on the platform. with another adding, “So you’re telling me my trash can doesn’t have to be an eyesore?”
The best part? Even if a disco ball look-alike isn’t for you, the idea stands: Layering peel-and-stick tile to the outside of your trash can turns something ordinary into an extraordinary touch.
How to Use Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper to Upgrade a Trash Can
Like any peel-and-stick wallpaper project, the best part about this upgrade is that it’s totally customizable. Juan decided to use disco tiles, like these similar options that I found on Amazon, but you can use any peel-and-stick tile (or even wallpaper!) you like.
This could also be a great project to use up any peel-and-stick products you have left over after redoing a backsplash, wall, or other appliance.
You could even use a stainless steel or enamel-looking option to match an outdated or plastic trash can to newer kitchen appliances. This would be an affordable way to make your space a bit more cohesive without having to buy another trash can.
Or, use a wood grain peel-and-stick wallpaper to match your trash can and appliances to your cabinets, like Instagram user Nick Lowry did last year.
The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to peel-and-stick projects. As several commenters said on Juan’s post, it’s time to start remembering that you have free will and that yes, even your trash can can be packed with personality!
