According to the 2026 Pinterest Hobbies Trends Report, which is based on data collected from millions of users on the platform, “curated clutter” is rising in popularity in 2026. More people are seemingly looking for ways to capture their unique personality and charm through custom displays of their beloved trinkets and tokens — it’s a version of collecting that doesn’t completely overwhelm you. And more Pinterest users are looking for inspiration around being choosy in what they display (and how they do it!).

According to Pinterest, curated clutter is what happens when your collections become “styled identity statements.” It’s not about just starting random collections of objects and having them take over entire corners of the room. It’s more about curating your collections based on your true interests and likes — and displaying these collections in unique ways that’ll have guests doing a double take.

“The vibe blends vintage characters with modern fandom, showing up in everything from photocards and anime figures to vinyl, DVDs, coins and travel stickers,” the Hobbies Trends Report reads. 

Pinterest’s data around related queries and activity suggests that these curations are far from just purchased — they often dip into upcycling older items and sustainable ways to reduce landfill waste. A collection of old books becomes a display shelf for other collectibles, for example. Or collected figurines find a home in a vintage printer’s tray dock. A record collection becomes wall art with help from gorgeous floating shelves.

“A parallel thread is sustainability-as-style: upcycling items like old trading cards into decor makes collections feel more creative and personal,” the report reads. “Overall, these trends point to a home aesthetic built around curated micro-collections that are intentionally arranged, easy to rotate, and meant to be seen.”

The key to nailing the curated look? The vessel for holding your collection! Choose furniture pieces that will help you keep this collection contained and beautiful. Trinket shelves, vintage printer’s trays, and upcycled bottle crates are ideal for displaying smaller things in groups on the wall. For larger items like DVDs, records, dishware, and books, start snooping around Facebook Marketplace and yard sales for free-standing shelving units that can bring the collection together in a single home.
